    I have scribe and love it. I’ve adopted it as my main note taking device for work. Reading books on it is great too.

    Your description of why a Kindle fits into a highly interrupt-driven lifestyle, provides focus-enhancing distance, supports intentionality, along with your thoughts on the ergonomics is excellent. Thank you for putting this video together. I have no idea what else you talk about, but will subscribe and find out.
    The smoke is interesting and I appreciate it as an exploration of the craft of video.

      Thanks for your very thoughtfully crafted comment! I am glad you enjoyed the video!
      I make content on lots of different topics but unfortunately haven’t been as active recently because of work. But I appreciate the sub!

    I like the looks of it, seems practical for those that don’t want to use their tablet as a reader. Lots to think about.

      It’s definitely not the kind of device everyone will dig. But it’s very good at the things it does. So it’s just making the decision of it fills a gap.

    I just bought the scribe as the bundled price was less than the stand-a-lone scribe. Having never had a kindle, always a kindle fire, I was actually disappointed with it and was all set to return it. However, it's been a few weeks now and I have decided to keep it. Long story short, I live on an island and we recently lost power due to a hurricane. The Scribe performed admirably - with long battery life and the backlit light, no electricity was needed to use my device. Once you realise what this device is designed for, it tends to grow on you!

      I really am so glad you enjoyed the device! That’s good to hear. It’s definitely a purpose built device.

    I'm very easily distracted and agree with your comments. I've had the scribe for a while now, took a little while to grow into it but appreciate its virtues. I also have a late model paperwhite which goes virtually everywhere with me. I not only read on that but listen to audiobooks - the battery lasting much longer than my phone. Enjoyed you vid.🙃

      Really glad to hear you’ve been enjoying your scribe! I definitely agree with you, it’s a device that forces you to slow down and focus. It can definitely be hard to do with other more capable products.

    I got one recently and just love it. Good build quality, clear text and I feel like reading a real book as the screen is big and wide. The best part is any interesting pdf I come across, I can send to kindle and read whenever I get a break!
    I use a pouch rather than a cover as I love the feel of having the device on my hands. So it will be some time before I fully start making use of the writing capabilities.

      Hey, that’s great to hear! My use case is pretty similar. Though I definitely make lots of use of the handwritten notes in kindle books 😄
      I agree though, the feeling of the device is superb and I generally just put it in a padded backpack for travel.

    Like you, I do work on a tablet. My use case is extensive note-taking. Didn't pull trigger on the Scribe cause, as a therapist, I review client notes across different devices. Got nervous about being pigeonholed to Kindle eco, or that awkward emailing to self to have notes on my cloud service (e.g. Good Drive)

      Yeah, it’s definitely I but unfortunate how limited the scribe can be when compared to traditional tablets. It’s certainly an e-reader first and foremost. Glad you were able to save your money for a device that’ll hopefully fit your workflow better!

    I just got the 16Gb model & premium pen for just £190.00 inc delivery and I love it. It's definitely worth the money for me as it does what I need albeit a little slow. It's also nicely made too although i don't think it's waterproof.

      Glad to hear you’re enjoying your kindle! I feel the same about mine. Definitely does what it does well! It’s definitely not waterproof though. So I’d avoid jumping in the pool lol

    I would like to use the Kindle scribe for my choir music. And I need to make annotations on each page. if I make annotations, are they automatically saved? Do you feel like it would work well for this?

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades  2 месяца назад

      So if you import the sheets as PDF documents, you can absolutely mark them up all you want. They’ll also save to the device automatically so no need to worry about losing them.
      It should work pretty well for the purposes you’ve described.

    Would you know if I could make the Kindle Scribe a corporate device like phones and tabs so I could read reports/research papers from the knowledge repository of our firm? Our firm restricts mailing documents to personal devices and I am not sure how the Kindle can be controlled by my firm so I won't be in violation of any confidentiality requirements.

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades  3 месяца назад

      I see, so you can put content onto the kindle over USB C. But the fact that it can connect to the internet and email docs from a connected kindle account and the fact that it can’t have antivirus or other types of software installed would lead me to say, probably not. Unfortunately in cases such as those, firms tend to prefer keeping documents on highly secure devices.

      @@jackofmanytrades Firms use Microsoft Intunes to manage devices and protect data on phones and tabs. I don't know if there is a version for Kindle. Consulting firms and research based firms really need a solution for this.

      I don’t think so. The Scribe still gets updates and I think they continue to sell pretty well. I don’t believe they are going away anytime soon.

      @@mzmel1 no it's not. a tablet has the capability of downloading apps and doing a lot more than just reading and sketching. BOOX makes eink tablets, but Kindle only makes ereaders.
